FAQ's

Q:  I don’t know if my child needs inpatient or outpatient treatment!  How do I choose?

A:  The first step in determining what level of care is best for your adolescent is to complete a chemical dependency evaluation.  This evaluation, completed by a licensed clinician, will determine what level of care will best meet your child’s needs.  To schedule an evaluation call 898-4135.

Q:  We completed the Chemical Dependency evaluation, and it recommends a program at JOURNEYS.  Now what?

A:  The therapist that completed the evaluation will forward a copy of the evaluation to JOURNEYS business office.  Depending on the level of care recommended and JOURNEYS availability, you may be able to start treatment right away.  Please call the Business Coordinator at 898-4135 for more information.

Q:  Will my insurance cover the cost of treatment?

A:  Maybe.  JOURNEYS is a Medicaid provider, however at the current time we are not a preferred provider for many major insurance companies.  Your insurance policy may have provisions for out-of-network benefits.  You can call the number on the back of your insurance card to find out what your benefits are, or call JOURNEYS’ Business Coordinator.

Q:  My child has substance abuse and mental health problems.  Can JOURNEYS help?

A:  Yes!  All of JOURNEYS clinician’s are Licensed Mental Health Practitioners.  Many are dual-credentialed in both Mental Health and Substance Abuse.  JOURNEYS frequently sees clients that are afflicted with substance abuse and mental health problems, or co-occurring disorders.

Q:  Will our family be involved in my adolescents’ treatment?

A:  Yes!  As a matter of fact, family participation is required in JOURNEYS treatment programs.  Our Intensive Outpatient Program includes a weekly parent group, and family therapy is a large piece of both Outpatient and Residential Treatment.  Working through family issues is a major stepping stone on the road to recovery!

Q:  Is your facility locked?

A:  No.  While of course our door is locked from the inside at night for security purposes, the residential clients are never locked in.

Q:  Where do the Residential Clients go to school?

A:  All resident’s go to school here at JOURNEYS.  Our teacher works with each student individually to ensure that they meet their personal goals, whether that’s finishing up a high school diploma, working on a GED or even starting college courses.

Q:  How big is your program?

A:  JOURNEYS Residential Program has 12 beds.  Intensive Outpatient can accommodate 10 participants.

Q:  Where is JOURNEYS located?

A:  JOURNEYS address is 815 Dorcas St., Omaha, NE  68108.  We are in the old St. Joseph Hospital, near 10th St. and Martha.
